New Market Area Library
A public library has been in operation within New Market since 1974, with the library formerly being located on S. Congress Street. In 2008, the completion of the current New Market Area Library occurred. A green building, it was constructed from 150 year old brick, presupposed pine beams and trim, corn fiber carpets, low VOC paints, pervious concrete for sidewalks and parking areas, a galvalume roof, Hardie Plank trim and a rain garden.
The New Market Area Library is staffed entirely by volunteers. They offer books for adults and children, large print books, DVDs, books on CD, public access computers, wi-fi, and various programs of interest throughout the year. Additional materials and resources can be found at the Shenandoah County Library, located in Edinburg.
