Business Licenses

When Required

Every person engaging in the town in any business, trade, profession, or occupation, unless exempted by law, shall apply for a license for business if (a.) such person maintains a definite place of business in the town, (b.) maintains a building in town, which shall be deemed a definite place of business, or (c.) operates amusement machines, or is engaged as an itinerant merchant, contractor, or is a public service corporation subject to the Code of Virginia.

Applying For A Business License

Before you apply for a business license, please contact the Town Manager (540-740-3432) to ensure that the business you wish to operate meets all of the Town’s zoning regulations. Business license applications are available at the Town Office or by clicking on the link below. Fees & Renewals

Fees depend on the type of business that you are operating. Please refer to the business license application form for the appropriate fees for your business. If you have any questions please contact us and we will help you determine your rate.

Renewal applications are mailed out the first part of January and are due by March 1st. After March 1st a 10% penalty is assessed.
