THE VIRGINIA MUSEUM OF THE CIVIL WAR (VMCW) AND
NEW MARKET BATTLEFIELD STATE HISTORICAL PARK

The Virginia Museum of the Civil War (VMCW) and New Market Battlefield State Historical Park interprets the 1864 Battle of New Market with emphasis on the role of Virginia Military Institute Cadets and the Civil War in Virginia. Part of the Virginia Military Institute museum system which includes the VMCW, V.M.I. Museum and the Stonewall Jackson House. VMCW is a National Historic Landmark accredited by the American Association of Museums. Featured items are artifacts, dioramas and the Emmy-winning film "Field of Lost Shoes" shown daily on the hour. The General's Store has a wide variety of regional products and an excellent book selection. Site of the state-certified Shenandoah Valley Tourist Information Center, displaying local and regional brochures.
Admission Fee: Adults $10; Seniors (Age 65+) $9; Youth (Age 6-12) $6.00; Children 5 & under free. New Market residents are admitted free with proof of residency. Some discount rates available. Museum and grounds are open from 9 AM - 5PM (closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Day).
Directions: Take Exit 264 off I-81 onto Rt. 211 West. Take the immediate right onto Rt. 305 (George R. Collins Parkway) and follow to the end of the road. (about 1 mile).
